Lesson 1

Cultivate gratitude by creating a GRATITUDE mandala. Draw circles and write words of gratitude.

Meditation: Cultivating Joy

Lesson 2

Create an easy self-care wheel. Draw a few circles and symbols, using colors that speak to you.

Meditation: Self-Love 

Lesson 3

Build dimension by creating scrumptious layers and stencils that are inspired by the layers in your life. 

Meditation: Welcoming Joy

Lesson 4

Create some depth with easy to paint circles allowing your paint brush to do it’s magic and unify our painting. 

Meditation: Gratitude

Lesson 5

Give yourself permission to do what works for you. Learn to create shapes and draw an elephant head.

Meditation: Loving Kindness

Lesson 6

Apply paint to canvas, decorate and paint in Elephant head. Simple, peaceful instruction.

Your Creativity Guide

Alyssa Blais is an artist and a creatively fit coach living in Nova Scotia,

creating colorful, whimisical paintings. She enjoys long walks in nature and hiking in the mountains. In addition to her work as an artist, she facilitates creativity workshops to help people develop their own personal sacred painting practice.

Since 2020, Alyssa is developing online classes to bring you joy and calm your mind with colors, soothing music and mindful awareness.

List  of Supplies

What you will learn in this course…

  • A large canvas. 24″ x 24” is a nice size to start with. Use any flat surface
  • Acrylic paints in primary colors: Yellow, Blue, Red
  • Any other paints you fancy: student grade, basic quality and craft acrylic paints work well
  • White and Black paint
  • A variety of paint brushes that are made for acrylic paints.  Good sizes to have: ROUND, sizes 2, 6, 10 
  • Container for water, spray bottle with water, rags/paper towel, palette to hold paint
  • Drawing paper (any paper to practice on) a pencil (charcoal, HB) and an eraser
  • Nice to have: posca pens, markers, stencils
  • Extra: to make this time sacred –candles, incense, flowers, soft flowing music, anything that speaks to you

When does the course start and finish?

This is a self-paced online course – you decide when you start, how long you work and when you finish. The class is always open for you and the material will be available for you to view, download and work through.

Do I need high speed internet for the course?

Yes, you will need a good internet connection to view and/or download the video content for this course.

How long do I have access to the course?

After enrolling, you have unlimited access to this course for as long as you like – across any and all devices you own.

Do I need to have experience with painting before I start with this class?

This class is suitable for all levels, whether you are a beginner or an experienced painter. Everything will be explained step by step, and I’ll teach you an easy way of covering your canvas with paint and painting your elephant head. 

Will there be an online community for this course?

Yes, I will provide details of how to submit a request to join the Painting Joy community. 

Do I need all the art supplies?

No. There are some basic requirements such as a surface to work on, (like a canvas), acrylic paint and paper for your elephant drawing. It’s up to you. Anything goes!
